Colony Manager Program
Free roaming cats can be found all over Winnipeg. Lindenwoods, Elmwood, Island Lakes, North End, Point Douglas, Charleswood -- pick a neighbourhood, and you'll find community cats. In every one of those neighbourhoods you will also find concerned residents who want to make a difference for the cats. Our Colony Manager Program lets them do just that.
Colony Managers are ordinary people who take care of the cats in their neighbourhoods. They provide feeding stations, keep track of how many cats are showing up to eat, catch kittens for adoption, and trap adult cats for TNR (trap, neuter, return).
Recent changes to Winnipeg's Responsible Pet Ownership bylaw mean that our Colony Manager program will resume training sessions in March 2024. The program will be modified due to the impending closure of our adoption centre, but colony managers trained in our program will meet the requirements of the new bylaw. Please email to be put on the contact list for the next session.
You can build a shelter to help community cats stay warm through the winter. We use many of these simple shelters to keep our colony cats warm and dry over the winter.
