Volunteering with Craig Street Cats
Volunteers are the people who keep Craig Street Cats going. They come care for and play with the cats, help with fundraising, gather donated items and do all the little things that make it possible to continue. Right now we have some of the most dedicated volunteers in this city.
We need more like them.
All volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of 2 hours per week, working with the cats and one fundraising event per year, in addition to other areas they want to help in.

Fundraising:
•working at our fundraising events throughout the year •working at our fundraising and information tables at various venues •delivering and picking up donation cans and boxes •counting and rolling coins •picking up donated items •planning fundraising events |
Working with the cats:
•feeding •cleaning cat areas and litter boxes •playing with cats and kittens •cleaning and organizing our adoption centre |
Making stuff to sell at fundraisers (patterns available):
•crafts, etc. •making catnip toys •sewing cat beds |
Skilled Volunteers:
Volunteers with skills in the following areas are desperately needed: •secretary / admin assistant •event planner / co-ordinator •vet tech / assistant •media specialist •graphic designer •public relations |
A Volunteer Orientation Session is scheduled for each new volunteer. Due to Covid-19, sessions are now 1 on 1, instead of larger groups. Please download the volunteer application, fill it out, then call 204 421-1919 to arrange your orientation session. ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST PROVIDE PROOF OF FULL VACCINATION AGAINST COVID-19 BEFORE THEIR ORIENTATION SESSION.
Junior Volunteers: young people between the ages of 6 and 16 are welcome to join us to learn about caring for cats and help around the adoption centre. Junior volunteers must have a parent or guardian with them while they are participating. Junior volunteers must download our volunteer application form and have a parent or guardian complete it for them. BOTH THE JUNIOR VOLUNTEER AND THE PARENT ATTENDING WITH THEM MUST PROVIDE PROOF OF FULL VACCINATION AGAINST COVID-19 BEFORE THEIR ORIENTATION SESSION
High School Volunteer Credit: High school students may be eligible for credit hours for their volunteer work. Craig Street Cats is happy to participate in such programs. Please contact us for more information.
Program Placements: We are happy to accommodate student or client work placements, subject to staff availability and student/client ability. Please contact us for more information.
Community Service: we cannot accept volunteer applications from persons required to do community service as part of their sentence for a crime involving any form of violence, theft or substance abuse.
