Fostering Craig Street Cats or Kittens

PictureOrphan kitten getting her first taste of kitten formula.
We always need foster homes for cats and kittens.  Foster families provide a loving home environment for critters that are not always grateful for the favour, until said critters are ready for adoption.  This may take a few weeks, several months, or, rarely, a year or more.

Craig Street Cats provides all food, litter, and veterinary care for foster cats and kittens.  If special equipment or containment is required we will provide that, as well.
In homes that already have pets, foster critters must stay in a spare room (at least until they have been vaccinated).  The foster family's pets (especially any cats) must be up to date on vaccinations before foster cats come into the home.

Regular Foster Program:  Orphaned kittens, moms and kittens, or adult cats needing a break from the adoption centre are all part of this program.  These critters might be a little hissy, to start, but they are quick to come around.  Typical length of stay varies from a few weeks to a few months.

Fear Free Foster Program:  this program provides special programming for cats that are not yet fully socialized, or require help learning to trust people.  Foster providers must participate in a training program, and follow programming designed to help the cats become adoptable.  Length of stay is determined by how well the cat progresses.  It might be a few weeks, but will probably be several months.  Close adherence to provided programming will help cats progress more quickly.

Foster families provide a loving home environment until the cats or kittens are ready for adoption.  In addition they:

1.  take cats/kittens in their care to vet appointments
2.  administer medications as prescribed by our vets
3.  transport their charges to and from adoption events

The job is sometimes heartbreaking, and always incredibly rewarding.

PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO COVID-19 WE ARE NOT PROCESSING FOSTER APPLICATIONS, AT THIS TIME.
